Jason Chapa
Founder & Vice President
The father of Hayden Max Chapa (the inspiration for Camp Hayden) Jason is the visionary, construction manager and muscle for Camp Hayden. When Hayden was born with micro-lissencephaly, Jason used his ingenuity and passion for creating to make toys intended for kids without special needs accessible and usable for Hayden. Whether it was making kid’s electric cars remote control (so he could drive Hayden around in it) or rigging up support on sleds for Hayden, Jason was always on a mission to give Hayden a fulfilling life with lots of amazing experiences. After losing Hayden in 2016, Jason was compelled to take this tragedy and make it into something inspiring, which he has done with the creation of Camp Hayden in 2017 and the creation of his Road Construction Company Roundabout Construction in 2019.
Jason grew up in Idaho Falls, Idaho and worked with his father Max Chapa to grow their moving company into a viable business after high school. After starting his family with Kami Chapa in 2013, Jason worked hard to provide for his family, support his friends and his local community by giving his time and resources to those in need. Jason and Kami had the original vision for Camp Hayden and Jason took the initiative to reach out to The Idaho Falls YMCA to pitch the idea of letting Camp Hayden rebuild the Big Elk Creek Camp (as it hadn’t been useable for years) and retrofit it to make it handicap accessible. After spending months living at The Big Elk Creek Camp, donating thousands of hours, donating thousands of dollars and finding passionate volunteers, donors and families to attend the camp; Jason’s vision for Camp Hayden became a reality in July of 2017. As a father to Haisley Chapa (born 2019), founder of Camp Hayden and owner of Roundabout Construction; Jason manages to juggle all of his responsibilities with grace and is always looking ahead to the future.
